Professor Ryan "Sticks"
Professor Sticks is a 1st-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a dedicated student under Professor Chad Robichaux, one of the most respected instructors in the BJJ community. His journey in martial arts began in 2002, when he first stepped onto the mats and discovered a lifelong passion for Jiu-Jitsu. What started as a personal pursuit quickly evolved into a mission: to teach, mentor, and help others grow both physically and mentally through the discipline of BJJ.
Beyond his accomplishments on the mats, Sticks brings a distinguished 33-year career in both law enforcement and military service. He is a proud Desert Storm veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he developed the mindset, discipline, and leadership qualities that continue to shape his life and teaching style today. Over the course of his career, he has trained countless individuals in a wide spectrum of high-performance skills—including self-defense, firearms proficiency, tactical operations, hand-to-hand combat, and advanced situational awareness.
These experiences give Professor Sticks a unique perspective and teaching approach. His classes emphasize not only technique, but also mindset, responsibility, structure, and character. Students often describe his instruction as disciplined, detail-focused, and deeply rooted in real-world application. No matter a student’s age, background, or experience level, Sticks is committed to helping them grow into the strongest, most resilient version of themselves.
Professor Sticks’ mentorship extends far beyond the dojo. He believes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is more than a martial art—it is a vehicle for confidence, discipline, and personal transformation. His goal is to build a community where students push each other, support one another, and always strive to be better than they were the day before.
With decades of service, leadership, and teaching behind him, Professor Sticks brings unparalleled experience to the mat. His dedication to developing the next generation of martial artists is evident in every class he leads, every technique he teaches, and every student he guides.
