Professor Ryan "Stick" Stickney
Head Instructor / Owner
Professor Sticks is a 1st-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, proudly trained under Professor Chad Robichaux. Most recently Sticks has spent the last 5 years training and coaching at Vera Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Adrian Vera. Sticks began his BJJ journey in 2002 and has been passionate about teaching and developing students ever since. In addition to earning his black belt, Sticks brings more than 33 years of combined experience in law enforcement and military service. A Desert Storm veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he has dedicated his life to training others in self-defense, firearms, tactical operations, hand-to-hand combat, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Known for his disciplined, detail-oriented teaching style, Professor Sticks is committed to shaping the next generation of martial artists. His mission is to help every student grow in skill, confidence, and character—on and off the mats.
Coach Trinity Stickney
Assistant Coach / Bi-Lingual
Coach Trinity “Sticky” is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt who began training in 2020 under Professor Sticks and Professor Adrian Vera. She is an accomplished competitor with multiple podiums and gold medals in JJWL and NAGA, and is known for securing one of the fastest triangle submissions ever recorded in JJWL.
Fluent in Spanish, Trinity brings valuable communication skills to her coaching and connects easily with students of all backgrounds. Passionate about teaching—especially kids—she is dedicated to developing the next generation of Jiu-Jitsu athletes with strong fundamentals, confidence, and heart.
Coach Sara "Bucco" Benjamin
Part-Time Coach
Coach Sara “Bucco” is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt who trains under Professor Sticks and Professor Adrian Vera at Vera jiu-Jitsu. She began her BJJ journey in 2022 and quickly developed a deep passion for the sport. Since then, she has become an active competitor, earning multiple podium finishes at every belt level.
Before stepping onto the mats, Bucco was a Division I collegiate lacrosse athlete, competing at the highest levels and leading her teams through intense stages of competition. This background gives her a strong foundation in discipline, preparation, and high-performance mindset.
As a mother of three, Bucco brings a natural connection and patience to her coaching—especially with kids. Her energy, passion, and ability to motivate young athletes have helped guide multiple youth competitors to gold-medal success. Whether she’s coaching children or adults, Coach Bucco is committed to building confidence, skill, and a love for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in every student.
Coach Trey Reed
Part-Time Coach
Coach Trey is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt who trains under Professor Sticks and Professor Adrian Vera at Vera Jiu-Jitsu. Though early in his BJJ journey, he is far from new to martial arts or grappling. Trey is a 9-year Marine Corps veteran, where he earned a black belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) along with the instructor-trainer tab—an achievement reserved for highly skilled and trusted leaders.
Trey’s grappling roots go even deeper. He began wrestling at age nine, ultimately becoming a high school state champion in 2009. Today, he continues to compete in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, earning multiple podium finishes.
With a strong passion for teaching both youth and adults, Trey brings a competitive mindset and real-world approach to skill development. His combination of military discipline, wrestling foundation, and evolving BJJ expertise makes him a powerful mentor for students looking to grow in confidence, athleticism, and martial arts.
